Business Case Review For Executives

Ensuring projects always get the green light

Workshop Overview

With organisations investing significantly each year on capital investments such as buildings, equipment, and facilities, it is essential that the right choices are made and provide value f or money. A good business case provides the evidence to support decision-making and assurance to all stakeholders of responsible action.

The BBC methodology provides a structured approach for developing business cases to justify investment decisions. It ensures that proposals are strategically aligned, economically viable, commercially sound, financially affordable, and well-managed. The methodology includes five components and is developed over three phases.

Learning Objectives

  1. 1.Grasp the philosophy and rationale behind the Five Case Model.
  2. Distinguish between various business cases, their purposes, responsibilities, and timings within spending proposals.
  3. Integrate business case development with best practices in programme and project management.
"Better Business Case (BBC) methodology based on the Five Case Model was formally adopted by the UK Government's HM Treasury around the year 2000 as part of its Green Book guidance for project and program appraisal."
