Governance For Executives (P3GP)
Workshop Overview
(2-day workshop) – This executive workshop explores the key aspects of directing, overseeing, and controlling an organisations project and programme investments - an area known as Project, Programme and Portfolio Governance (P3G).
The workshop is anchored by the 10 Principles of P3G, which address the importance of treating projects and programmes as investments, the role of accountability in empowering executives, and clarifying which committees make which decisions. It discusses assurance as a decision support mechanism and how to align projects and programmes to strategic objectives. Workshop sessions will address practical issues such as having too many committees with unclear accountability, committees that are too large, and senior committees overwhelmed with quantity of decision making required of them.
Learning Objectives
Understand the principles of P3G.
Understand how to use those principles to develop governance frameworks that are effective and efficient.
Understand the roles of Project Sponsors and Programme SROs, and the roles of governance committees.
Key Outcomes
Participants will be able to apply the 10 Principles of P3G to evaluate and improve their organisation's current governance framework, identifying gaps and overlaps in accountability, committee structures, and decision-making processes.
Participants will be able to distinguish between the roles and accountabilities of Project Sponsors, Programme SROs, and governance committees, and articulate how each contributes to effective investment decision making and oversight.
